Time for a Change
Martin Sepulveda is a seventh-generation Arizonan who serves his country, state, and community in many different capacities. He is a combat Veteran, accomplished businessman, community leader, and devoted family man.
In 1983, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from Arizona State University. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and subsequently earned a commission in the US Navy. In 1988, he left active duty military service to pursue his civilian career but continued to serve in the Navy Reserve. He retired in 2015 as a Commander, having served in Desert Storm, the Kosovo Air Campaign, four combat tours in Iraq and a combat tour in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Martin began his professional career in municipal economic development. Before leaving the public sector in 1996, he served as a senior business development representative for the Arizona Department of Commerce.
He began his private sector career at McCarthy Builders Southwest; one of the nations largest and oldest privately owned general contractors. At McCarthy, he was responsible for business development in the Southwestern United States and Mexico.
In 2000, he left McCarthy and founded Sepulveda Group, Inc.; an Arizona based, Veteran-owned small business specializing in commercial real estate development. His clients range from individual investors to Fortune 100 companies.
Martin has also been elected to two non-consecutive terms on the Chandler City Council. His first term was March 1995 to January 2000. He was elected to his second term in June 2004 and served until December of 2007, when he was recalled for active duty service in Fallujah, Iraq.
He has been an active member of the community for years. He joined the East Valley Partnership in 1993 and has served on the Executive Board as secretary and vice chairman. He currently serves as an Ex Officio member. He is the President of the Chandler Historical Society and a life member of the Arizona State University Alumni Association. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of the East Valley and the Chandler Education Foundation. As a former collegiate student-athlete, Martin continued to mentor young athletes as an assistant wrestling coach at Seton Catholic High School.
An Arizona State University graduate, he attended graduate school at the University of San Diego and participated in senior Naval Officer seminars on strategy at the Naval War College in Rhode Island. He has been a guest lecturer on subjects ranging from global business development to leadership at the Thunderbird School of International Management, John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard and Center for the Advancement of Small Business at the W.P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University.
Martin Sepulveda has been married to his wife Sheree for 33 years. Their son Marc is a graduate of Arizona State University and a Navy Reserve Corpsman who has completed combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Their daughter Natalie is a graduate of the University of Arizona. Martin and Sheree raised their family in Chandler and are proud to see their grandchildren raised here.
